Why subscribe?
My name is Barry Davis, and I am so glad you stopped by. This resource is designed to help ministers with their planning and sermon preparation.
With all the demands of ministry, sometimes it is hard to stay on top of everything you need to do. With administrative duties, visitation, counseling, leadership meetings, and more, there often just isn’t enough time to come up with something fresh, relevant, and engaging to preach to your congregation each week.
That is where we come in! Each and every week, we provide you with brand new sermon material that is designed to both engage your audience, and teach them how to apply Biblical truth to their lives. Each month is a new complete series.
Please take the time to explore this website and see what we have to offer. If this looks like something that would help your ministry, and I’m almost positive it will, please subscribe today!
FAQs
How often are the sermons updated?
Each and every week. Your full manuscript sermon will be emailed to you and available on the Substack app on Monday to be used the following Sunday (or any other time you want to use it). Each month is a new sermon series.
Can I access previously published sermons?
Yes. Paid subscribers have access to all of the sermon archives. (We only ask that you don’t subscribe, download all the sermons, and then cancel).
Do you follow the church year?
We do not follow the Lectionary, but we do provide sermons for major holidays like Christmas, Easter, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving.
Who writes the sermons? What are their qualifications?
All the sermon materials are written by Barry L. Davis, owner of The Pastor’s Helper. Barry has over two decades of preaching experience in the local church, and has been blessed with congregational growth in his ministries. He has earned the BBL, B.Th. (Old Testament), M.A. (New Testament and Preaching), D.Min. (Homiletics), and Ph.D. (Executive Leadership) degrees.
What translation of Scripture do you use?
We use various translations of Scriptures and make it clear in the sermon notes which one(s) we are using.
Are there any restrictions on how I use this material?
We ask that you do not offer any of our resources for resale, even if they have been edited. We also ask that you do not post your sermons on your church website, podcast, etc. or publish them in any way unless substantial changes have been made to the Title, Main Points, and Illustrations. This is for the benefit of all our subscribers.
Can I change the sermons to fit my own preaching style?
Yes! In fact, we encourage you to do so. While much time, research, and preparation have gone into these messages, we realize that everyone has their own style/personality. Feel free to use these messages “as is” or edit them for your purposes.
What if I want to cancel?
You are free to cancel at anytime.

What are your beliefs?
The Bible — We believe the Bible, in the original manuscripts, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written.
The Trinity — We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ — We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
Salvation — We believe that salvation is found in no other name than that of Jesus the Christ. Salvation is by grace, through faith.
The Holy Spirit — We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in this present evil world.
The Resurrection — We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
The Return of Christ —We believe in the literal return of Jesus Christ.
